Welcome to the River Moy Search and Rescue Ballina website. This service was formed in The Moy Club at Dillon Terrace, Ballina, Co. Mayo on Thursday May 5th 2011. It now has its home at The Old Quay School in Ballina. It aims to supplement the fantastic work performed by other local organisations.
Although the title states that it is a search and rescue organisation, it is a search and recovery organisation. The organisation consists of a group of volunteers who will help in a search for somebody who may have been tragically lost to water. The principal objective is to perform search and recovery work on the River Moy in Ballina and its secondary object is to combat the problem of marine litter. The third object is to promote all of the skills that we use in searches as sports and all our members regularly participate in recreational sport together, particularly diving and kayaking. Most of our diving is done in nearby Kilcummin. We have a subaqua diving club and a kayaking club.
It is a voluntary non-profit making organisation. This service operates under the auspices of The Charity Regulator. The charity number is CHY 19910.
